I just noticed a bit ago that when I logged on here there was some prompt to put somethin' in the run thing on my computer to "speed up the site" come to find out it was not put up by Liam and Mad Dog like it appeared. Even better was the fact that it had a jaws crashing word in it. Who ever the hell finds it funny and/or amusing to mess with people grow up ok??? End of rant.

Post 2 by silly_singer (The girl who's always lost in a melody) on Thursday, 27-Oct-2005 18:18:46

Also I am glad I didn't even try because I got suspicious so I hope noone really did whatever the damn prompt said to do. Thank you for getting it down so quickly who ever did so.

I never got it, guess whoever did it knows who isn't using eloquence. If they figure how to do that with other synthesizers, like flextalk for instance, I'll have to leave here. Oops, now someone will start working on it just to get me off, but oh well, it's just one of those sights, and I guess I wouldn't miss it if I had to leave.

Indeed you would think our wonderful admin would deal with this purile f..ker once and for all. I PM'd Jsquared about this crap and was ignored, so there is no danger of this problem ever being dealt with when admin insist on treating the punters with such ignorance!.

Post 5 by Witchcraft (Account disabled) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 8:17:13

I beg to differ. When they try to deal with such stuff they get screamed at by other members. Being a site admin puts you between a rock and a hard place, so, can we keep that in mind?

Post 6 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 9:56:53

Ok I'm just sick of certain admin acting with complete disregard, also, I cannot see what the others have to gain from losing the heid.

Post 7 by The Shuck Fitter (My name is Liam) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 17:18:13

let me try and phrase this as calmly as possible. Reading this really upsets me. We've worked really hard to put this guy out, but a lot of people seem to not respect that. I have actually made phone calls to suspected users. What do you honestly expect us to do? There's only so much someone can do. this may come off as sounding rude so I apologize ahead of time, but a lot of you guys have little to know experience with coding or maintaining a website like this one. You don't understand what exactly said person is doing to get through. There isn't a fool proof system in place, and there can never be for the most part. there's always gonna be some crack for him to slip through. And it's hard to find the user when they are masking their location with fake IP addresses. Admin, chris n, ather, doug, scot, and I have busted our rears to try and minimize the damage this guy does, and instead of a thank you we get a slap in the face? I'm sorry, but that is very rude and upsetting. and please explain this statement for me. "Ok I'm just sick of certain admin acting with complete disregard," ok? what exactly is that supposed to mean? To me, it sounds like you're saying that the admins don't care if said hacker gets in? If so, that comment is very very offbase. I will say no more, but I just hope certain people respect the time and effort we put in.

Liam; I just want to tell you I truely appreciate what you and everyone involved in the site are doing to try to put an end to this shit!!! In creating this thread I'd intended to bitch that such assholes exsisted but at the same time thank all the maintainers of this site for taking care of the issue as soon as you all found out it came about.

Post 9 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 18:13:05

Yeah, thanks Liam! I do think that if you send a private message to one of the admins that they should get back to you though, even if it takes a while. I messaged a couple admins on a couple things in the past, and got absolutely no response. Sure, nobody's perfect, but if you work on that i think it'd go a long way to making people feel a bit more secure.

Post 10 by wonderwoman (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 19:35:57

well, don't know if some of the scoldings were directed at me, but just incase they were, or I was included, I wasn't complaining at the admins, but I wouldn't want my double talk or flextalk crashing on me every time I came on. In time, that might could do some sight damage, but I promise, that if it ever comes to that, and they figure out how to do the same thing with other synthesizers, I will not say a word, I'll just leave.

Post 11 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 29-Oct-2005 20:12:46

people, we managed to grab this, hopefully without too many users being infected by it. I was actually tipped off by dizzylizzy85, (many thanks to her and those who told her about it for tipping me off before this did too much damage), and removed it immediately. Upon removing it, I immediately informed one of the admins, and the issue was solved. The person, hopefully, will not be able to hack into the news file like they did before. Will another hole come up in our security system? I personally have no doubt. Not to insult anyone's coding ability, but well, no one, and I do mean, no one can cover all of their security holes. It's a process that takes lots and lots of time, and newer holes are being discovered all the time. There'll always be someone trying to ruin it for other users, all we can do, is make it a wonderful place to be, for all of the rest of the users on here. Laters all!

Hey bunnywhabit, are you on the disabledfriends site? I ask, because that's the only site where I know of, that they have bronze, silver, and gold memberships. What is that site so dead?

I won't say much here, except for the part about admins writing back. I know this was an issue earlier this year. But in the past 2 months when we changed the link from sending a PM to admin to Emailing the admins directly on the main menu, we've responded to everything that comes through. Hope this helps.

Post 14 by Goblin (I have proven to myself and the world that I need mental help) on Monday, 31-Oct-2005 14:31:55

So if I send you an Email you will finally do something, about the eejits who have abused me non stop for months.
I wont hold my breath.

Yeah yeah, this is late, and I don't even know who will read this, but I'm glad I could help in eliminating the problem. Thanks to silly_singer for tipping me off; I wasn't aware in the first place.
Wow, I can't believe I'm actually posting on the boards! What's next?

Post 16 by silly_singer (The girl who's always lost in a melody) on Friday, 11-Nov-2005 23:26:40

I figured if anyone on my friend's list could figure out what was goin' on and/or who to notify it'd be you. Thanks for alurting the propper people.
Well you posted to boards so how about an audio profile next? or upgrade your account and create a log in message? LOL

Post 17 by Liz (The Original) on Saturday, 12-Nov-2005 8:54:27

Haha, I dunno, I don't really see the point of upgrading my account, no offense, of course, to all of the wonderful admins and community leaders and whatnot that maintain this place. That, and I'm a college student, so $25 is a bit hard to part with... As for an audio profile, I had one, but I didn't like it, and so took it down. I don't know if I could git everything in to 20 seconds, unless I talk really fast.

why don't you have HMG85 record an audio profile for you and see if anyone notices.

Post 21 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 13-Nov-2005 23:12:24

Sam, if anyone would want non-stop Botner action, it'd be you. And I don't mean in that way either. Wizard and Watson are two totally different people. They do not sound exactly alike, so that wouldn't work bud.

Post 22 by Liz (The Original) on Monday, 14-Nov-2005 8:55:15

Well damn! Haha, John, your post made me crack up! Seriously, that's great! Thanks for that...

They may be different people, but they share a lot of chromosomes.

Post 24 by The Roman Battle Mask (Making great use of my Employer's time.) on Thursday, 17-Nov-2005 4:01:04

They don't share exact chromosomes, since I"m assuming there not identical tripplits, how ever they do share a large amount of genetic meterial, and all the mitocondrial dna.

Post 25 by guest2014 (Generic Zoner) on Monday, 21-Nov-2005 19:32:00

Ok guys, just a couple things: one, the latest version of JAWS doesn't have this problem with eloquence. And two, why not setup a dictionary rule to tell JAWS to speak this word with another spelling. That will solve all your problems...

The one thing I will say though is that I agree...Email the admins and you'll get no response.

Post 26 by Liz (The Original) on Friday, 02-Dec-2005 8:59:21

Yay for people who post in topics with irrevelant subject matter, not even bothering to take time to possibly either figure out what the prior discussion was about, or try at least to further it.

As for myself and my sisters: yes, we're triplets; yes, we may have some of the same chromosomes, but no, we're not three identical exact copies of the same people. I'm Liz, my own person, Damn it!

Post 27 by alison (my ISP would be out of business if it wasn't for this haven I live at) on Thursday, 29-Dec-2005 12:48:56

I had a lot of trouble with that word when it was being posted in qn's, but I did my dictionary thing and it's all fixed now. (I just hope I got all the different spellings, because a couple of my friends have been slipping it into conversations on MSN
